Club Chairmen, Captains and Secretaries
The GCCL, in conjunction with the GCB, is instigating a new T20 Blast league
competition for clubs in Gloucestershire. The basic details are;
Matches on Sunday afternoon.
Fixtures will be arranged by the league, starting in June
running through to mid-August. It is expected that each club will play 6 to
8 league matches.
The competition is open to all GCCL clubs, plus clubs in CFG,
Stroud and Cotswolds district leagues (that meet the GCCL facilities
Teams will play in regional divisions, with the winners
progressing to a finals day.
A red ball will be used and white cricket clothing (although
clubs may play in coloured kit if they wish).
Please distribute the attached flyer to your players. Do put it on any social
media platforms that your club uses (various sized fliers attached for different
It is hoped that this competition will help revitalise Sunday cricket. A number
of clubs have commented that Sunday fixtures are difficult to arrange and are
often cancelled. It is hoped that a league structure will encourage players to
play and make matches more competitive. We also hope that players who cannot or
will not commit to a full Saturday match might be encouraged to play a shorter
game on a Sunday. We see this competition as a way of keeping players involved
in club cricket as well as a means of introducing younger players to adult
cricket, in addition to giving keen Saturday players more competitive games.
If your club is interested in entering you need to commit to fielding a T20 team
for up to 8 Sundays, with half the matches at your home ground. Although the
matches are expected to be competitive, it is envisaged that many clubs will
field teams of mixed ability and ages.
Do discuss this competition with your club members this weekend and if
interested, ask your club captain, secretary to reply ASAP and by Friday
9 November 2018.

1. Playing Standard of Teams?
Clubs from both the top end and the bottom end of the GCCL
will be involved, possibly playing in the same regional league. There may be
a few miss-matched games, but I hope these will be sensibly managed by the
Captains. I expect a few clubs will field strong teams with the intention of
winning the competition, but I believe that many clubs will field teams of
mixed ability players including a number of youngsters.
2. WEPL Clubs?
